Downloading Apps
So you've found an app that you think you want to download. Maybe it's an AARP app, maybe it's Facebook, or maybe it's an app you haven't heard of that just sounds neat. Let's take a look at how to tell if an app that interests you is worth your time, and how to download it if it is.
The first thing you'll want to check before downloading an app is how much it costs. When viewing an app, you'll find the price in a green box on the right side of the app's page.
When an app is free to download, its green download button will say 'Install.' To download a free app, tap 'Install.'
Some apps have certain conditions that you have to accept before installing them. To accept the conditions, tap 'Accept' when prompted.
When an app costs money, the price of the app will appear in the green download button.
To buy and download the paid app, tap the green price button. When the dialog box appears, tap Accept.
You will have to enter a password to download apps that cost money and you will need a credit card linked to your Google account to pay for the app.
While browsing search results, you may come across apps that you already have installed on your device. These apps will be marked with a green shopping bag with a checkmark.
If you select one of these apps, and go to the app's page, you'll notice that you'll have the option to 'Uninstall,' 'Open,' or even 'Update' the app if there is a new version of the app available to download.

What is Freemium?
Some apps can be downloaded for free, but require purchases from within the app to access additional features. These are commonly called Freemium apps. Freemium comes from a combination of the words Free and Premium, where free refers to the download of the app, and premium to the content purchased within the app. Some common examples of this are news apps that sell a subscription to their content, games that sell new levels or extra lives, and photo editing apps that sell new filters or editing tools.

When an app sells content within the app, it will have a label beneath the green price button that says 'In-app purchases.'
If you tap 'Read More' on any app page, you'll be able to read additional information about the app, including the types and prices of in-app purchases available. This can be useful for deciding whether or not to download an app.
Reviews
It's always a good idea to read reviews before downloading an app. When an app is extremely popular or is made by a trustworthy brand, chances are that it's worth your time. But when you haven't heard of an app, and want to know if it's any good, reviews can be very helpful.
When you select an app in the Google Play Store, you'll be taken to a page with additional details on the app.
In the middle of the app page, you'll see information on the number of times the app has been downloaded, the average review and number of reviews the app has received, the category of the selected app, and a button which you can tap to see additional app

You can tap 'Read All Reviews' to read full user reviews of the app. These can be sorted to show only reviews from people who have the same device as you, or be filtered to include only reviews for the most recent version of the app.
